    1884-S Dollar, MS61
    Mottled Golden-Brown Patina
    Well-Known Condition Rarity

1884-S $1 MS61 PCGS. Despite an unassuming mintage of 3.2 million coins, the 1884-S Morgan dollar ranks among the best-known condition rarities in this long-running and ever-popular series. The shortage of survivors in MS63 or better puts significant pressure on examples across most upper-end grade ranges.

This MS61 dollar is impressively appealing with mottled golden-brown patina over frosty, still-brilliant surfaces. Elements of green and blue color appear intermittently. A bit of strike softness over the ear and breast feathers should have little influence on the desirability of this conditionally elusive offering.(Registry values: P9, N2998)
