Description
Sharply Struck MS62 1884-S Silver Dollar
1884-S $1 MS62 PCGS. The 1884-S Morgan dollar is the second challenging S-mint issue in the series after the 1883-S, and between the two the 1884-S is far more elusive, grade for grade. Large numbers of 1884-S dollars were released in the 19th century, and it was only in the 1930s that the issue's rarity in Mint State was fully appreciated. This example offers excellent luster, with a sharp strike and the fields somewhat bright. The surfaces are predominantly gray to brilliant, with pale reddish-golden accents around the margins. A nice upgrade for many a Morgan dollar collection.(Registry values: P9, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 254P, PCGS# 7156, GSID# 7528)
