Description

1886-O $1 MS63 PCGS. As much as any other New Orleans issue, the ratio of 1886-O Mint State pieces compared to the mintage is low. Despite a prodigious mintage of 10.71 million Morgans, PCGS reports just seven Gems among their finest (1/26). This MS63 has typical strike weakness on the central devices but is otherwise sharp. Light marks are typical of the grade. Satiny luster complements a transparent layer of champagne accented with narrow bands of amber, cobalt-blue and lavender on the periphery.(Registry values: P8, N1793)
