Description
Well Struck 1886-O Select Dollar
1886-O $1 MS63 PCGS. Ex: Cajun Collection. Bright luster adorns both sides of this Select O-mint, each of which is essentially devoid of toning. While the issue is usually weakly struck, the present example displays relatively sharp overall detail, including partial definition in the hair at Liberty's ear, and strongly impressed breast feathers. A few light marks account for the grade. David Bowers estimates that 6 to 8 million pieces of the nearly 11 million coins originally produced were probably melted under terms of the 1918 Pittman Act.From The Arnold & Harriet Collection, Part Two.(Registry values: P8, N1793)
