Popular 1887/6 Gem Dollar
1887/6 $1 MS65 PCGS. VAM-2. A Top 100 Variety. The bottom of the lower loop of the underlying 6 is visible as a curved line through the lower stem of the 7. Whispers of golden-tan, lavender, and electric-blue toning gravitate to portions of the borders of this Gem example. Generally well struck, with pleasing luster. A few grade-consistent marks do not disturb. In their 1996 VAM reference book, Michael Fey and Jeff Oxman contend that "this issue's popularity has increased to the point it's now considered an integral part of a complete Morgan dollar set."From The Arnold & Harriet Collection, Part Two.(Registry values: P4, N2998)
