Description

1887-O Morgan Dollar, MS65
Sharp Strike, Excellent Luster

1887-O $1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The present coin is much superior to the typical 1887-O Morgan dollar in two qualities: Strike and mint luster. The strike on most 1887-O dollars is subpar because of widely spaced dies. This specimen is sharply detailed in all areas, except for the slightest softness on the hair over the ears. Likewise, the luster on most examples seen is subdued, with a granular texture. This example features booming, cartwheel luster and outstanding eye appeal. Only 12 coins have been certified in higher numeric grades by PCGS and NGC combined (8/10).(Registry values: P5, N2998)
