Description

Attractive Near-Mint 1889-CC Morgan Dollar

1889-CC $1 AU58 NGC. Boldly struck for the issue and lacking noticeable highpoint wear, this pleasing near-Mint example displays light cream-gray toning and attractive pale golden accents on each side. A small abrasion is noted on the eagle's upper right breast, and wispy hairlines occur in the fields. The '89-CC is an important Morgan dollar key date, and one of the few issues rarely seen in bag quantities, by coin dealers, during the 20th century. Coin production was resumed at the Carson City Mint in 1889, after a four-year hiatus, but only 350,000 silver dollars were struck. (Registry values: P9, N2998)
