Description
Spectacular 1889-CC Dollar, MS61
1889-CC $1 MS61 NGC. In the great GSA releases of the 1960s, the 1889-CC was virtually nonexistent, with only one example reported. The vast majority of its relatively small mintage of 350,000 pieces was released into circulation, so while the '89-CC is scarce in all grades, it is particularly elusive in Mint State.Peppered purple-red toning accents the mostly silver-gray obverse, which contrasts nicely against the fully brilliant reverse. The fields exhibit impressive semiprooflike reflectivity, which is fairly normal for this issue. The strike is crisp save for a hint of softness above Liberty's ear. Several light abrasions preclude an even higher grade. An excellent example for the serious collector.
