Description

1889-CC Dollar, MS62 Deep Prooflike
Iconic Western Key Date

1889-CC $1 MS62 Deep Prooflike NGC. The great draw of the famous 1889-CC Morgan dollar is twofold: its Western heritage and its low mintage of 350,000 coins. Indeed, the issue proves even more challenging to locate than its small production suggests. An estimated 300,000 to 325,000 pieces were melted under the terms of the 1918 Pittman Act. Those that survive are generally either well-worn or cleaned/impaired in some way.

This is a marvelous Mint State representative with dramatic Deep Prooflike contrast between the fields and strongly detailed devices. Both side are totally brilliant. Scattered abrasions and a few slide marks explain the grade, but their impact on the aesthetic appeal is minimal.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
