Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar, MS62
Nearly Full Prooflike

1889-CC $1 MS62 PCGS. VAM-2. Ex: Desert Find. Although scarce in Mint State, the 1889-CC Morgan can be found with nice field reflectivity. This MS62 example from the spectacular Nevada desert find displays such mirroring, even if it is just shy of a Prooflike designation from PCGS. If we saw this coin in a Prooflike holder, we would not have questioned it at all -- such is the quality of the eye appeal. The coin is brilliant and boldly struck, with frosty luster throughout the devices. Grade-limiting abrasions are light and scattered, posing limited visual impact. Additionally, this coin has not yet been reviewed by CAC for high quality.

Die lines in LIBERTY and throughout the recesses of the reverse motifs identify the VAM-2 dies, although the spindly crack through the base of the date has not yet emerged.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
