Description
1889-CC Morgan Dollar, MS62
Attractive Key Carson City Date
1889-CC $1 MS62 PCGS. The 1889-CC Morgan dollar boasts a
minuscule mintage of 350,000 pieces, making the issue an important
key in the series and the rarest Carson City Morgan. The present
coin is conservatively graded MS62, but it has many attributes of a
higher-grade piece. The design elements are sharply detailed, with
much crisper definition than usually seen on the 1889-CC. The mint
luster is vibrant and frosty, also much superior to the typical
specimen. The surfaces are brilliant, except for a single spot of
dark color on the reverse rim, about 3 o'clock. A series of minor
abrasions in the left obverse field explains the grade. Eye appeal
is outstanding. Population: 80 in 62, 99 finer (8/10).(Registry values: P9, N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2559, PCGS# 7190, GSID# 7554)
