Description

1889-CC Silver Dollar, MS63
Vivid Luster, Sharp Eye Appeal

1889-CC $1 MS63 PCGS. VAM-5. Ex: Desert Find. A combination of brilliant mint frost and areas of reflectivity intermingle on this Select Uncirculated dollar. An emerging die crack at U of UNITED through ONE suggest an intermediate die state between VAM-5 and VAM-5A. Vibrant silver luster illuminates a noticeably sharp strike on this visually impressive coin, which is a fitting reminder of the remarkable rebound at the Carson City Mint after nearly four years of inactivity in its coining operations. A few light abrasions and luster grazes exist within the obverse fields as well as at Liberty's cheekbone and jawline, but those marks are grade-consistent and do little to disturb the outstanding eye appeal of this radiant MS63 example. Few 1889-CC examples at the middle Mint State grade level can compare, and this piece is yet to be sent to CAC for consideration.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
