Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar, MS63
Finer Pieces Are Rare

1889-CC $1 MS63 PCGS. VAM-5. Ex: Desert Find. This is one of the frostiest coins in the Desert Find 1889-CC group. A radiating band of luster rolls freely throughout each side, illuminating boldly struck central devices that glisten in-hand. The reverse is largely pristine, belying the MS63 grade, and small marks and grazes on the obverse are pleasantly unobtrusive for the grade. We have seen many Carson City dollars in MS63 of various dates with inferior eye appeal and technical quality. And what's more, this piece is yet to be reviewed by CAC.

Faint, pebbly die rust in the eagle's tailfeathers and several small die lines on both sides can be used to determine the VAM-5 variety. However, the crack through ONE on the reverse is the most prominent feature, as well as the crack through the date.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
