Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar, XF40
Low-Mintage Carson City Key

1889-CC $1 XF40 NGC. VAM-5A. Carson City was authorized to resume minting coinage in July of 1889 following orders to cease production in 1885. Only 350,000 pieces were struck in 1889, most of which are believed to have been stored and later melted. This Extremely Fine example was introduced into commerce and now represents one of the most sought-after Morgans from the Old West. The bright steel-gray surfaces display expected friction on the high points, although considerable detail remains with few noticeable abrasions.(Registry values: P9, N1793)
