Description
1889-O $1 Clashed E, VAM-1A, MS61 PCGS Secure. A Top 100 Variety. According to the VAMWorld.com website, the VAM-1A has been renamed the VAM-1A2 variety, which is still valid. This piece shows many of the clash marks that characterize the VAM-1A2, most clearly the bold L clash beneath the eagle's tail, although that beneath Liberty's neck and right of the corn leaf on the obverse is also perceptible. This piece is untoned save for a golden tinge at the extreme rim and shows excellent preservation, seemingly on the cusp of an even finer grade.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 255A, Variety PCGS# 133930, Base PCGS# 7192, GSID# 25222)
