Description

1890-CC Morgan Dollar, MS62 Prooflike
Famous Tail Bar Variety, VAM-4

1890-CC $1 Tail Bar MS62 Prooflike NGC. VAM-4. Top 100 Variety. The 1890-CC Morgan dollar was produced in large numbers (2.3 million pieces), but it's survival rate was low. The 1890-CC is a better date in Mint State grades. This specimen is an example of the famous Tail Bar variety, caused by a die gouge, and visible as a raised bar from the bottom arrow feather to the olive branch below. The surfaces are reflective, but a trifle "baggy". The design elements are strongly impressed. A scratch on Liberty's jaw probably limits the grade.(Registry values: P6)
