Rare Deep Mirror Prooflike Near-Gem
Doubled Ear VAM-2 1891 Silver Dollar
1891 $1 MS64 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. VAM-2. A Top 100
Variety. The "Doubled Ear" VAM with obvious die doubling to the
south on Liberty's earlobe and the hair above the ear. Brilliant
and blatantly mirrored with light but consistent frost on the
portrait, eagle, and wreath. The portrait is particularly well
preserved. As of (2/10), PCGS has certified 19 1891 dollars as MS64
Deep Mirror Prooflike, with none finer. Two of those 19 have been
attributed as VAM-2 by PCGS.(Registry values: P6, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 255G, PCGS# 97205, GSID# 7685)
