Description

Appealing 1891 Gem Dollar

1891 $1 MS65 NGC. A perusal of the NGC/PCGS population figures reveals that Mint State 1891 dollars are abundant throughout the MS64 grade level, but the numbers fall precipitously in MS65 (specifically, from about 2,100 near-Gems to 145 MS65 pieces, and five specimens finer). A medley of soft golden-tan, violet, and powder-blue patina exhibits slightly deeper hues on the obverse, and glowing luster emanates from both sides. The design elements are well defined, and well preserved surfaces have a grainy finish, which is typical for the issue. Great overall eye appeal! Census: 65 in 65, 2 finer (7/07).
