Description

Splendid 1892-CC Dollar MS66

1892-CC $1 MS66 PCGS. Although the 1891-CC emerged in quantity from the GSA holdings, the 1892-CC was apparently dispersed from Treasury vaults prior to 1964. Uncirculated examples of the 1892-CC are obtainable, but only for a price, because the GSA auctions increased demand for all Carson City Morgan dollar dates. The 1892-CC becomes an important conditional rarity at the MS66 level, since most survivors have too many facial marks to achieve that lofty grade. The present untoned piece is an exception. The reverse is immaculate, the obverse field is unabraded, and the portrait has only inconsequential grazes. A precise strike further ensures the eye appeal. Population: 20 in 66, 2 finer (7/07).
