1893-CC $1 MS64 PCGS. VAM-5....
Description
1893-CC Dollar, MS64
Carson City Semikey, Final-Year Issue
1893-CC $1 MS64 PCGS. VAM-5. By the time the U.S. Treasury
ordered the Carson City Mint to cease coining operations in June
1893, the Nevada Mint had produced 677,000 Morgan dollars as its
final-year output. Most of that mintage was either released into
circulation or melted, although enough pieces survive to allow
collector access up to the MS64 grade. Any finer, the 1893-CC is a
great series rarity. This near-Gem example is frosty and brilliant
with radiant mint luster throughout both side. The surfaces are
smooth and attractive, showing only a few faint abrasions that
account for the assigned grade. The strike is sharp from the VAM-5
dies that show diagnostic die clashing and numerous die scratches
below the lower-right hair curls. PCGS Population (all varieties):
643 in 64 (50 in 64+), 18 finer (8/25).(Registry values: P8, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 255S, PCGS# 7222, Greysheet# 7610)
