Description
Remarkable 1893-S Dollar, AU50
1893-S $1 AU50 NGC. Even the casual coin collector knows that the 1893-S dollar is a highly desirable key date. Its fame is the result of its status as the lowest mintage regular issue in the popular Morgan dollar series. The vast majority of the survivors grade Very Fine, with the average grade of all NGC and PCGS certified examples being 23.7--at the low end of VF (7/09). About Uncirculated pieces are quite scarce, and only a select few have been graded in Mint State.A hint of tan toning accents the mostly silver-gray surfaces. Flashy luster in the fields enhances the eye appeal. There are no marks of any significance, and the details are crisply defined. An appealing example of this key date.
