The Series Key, CAC Approved
1893-S $1 AU55 PCGS. CAC. The 1893-S Morgan silver dollar
appears on more collector want lists than any other date-mintmark
combination in the series, and for good reason. The reported
mintage of 100,000 coins was the lowest in the series and the
number actually released is thought to me smaller yet. Furthermore,
unlike many other low-mintage issues, there were no quantities of
1893-S dollars released in the 20th century. This example is a
delight. Despite a few trivial marks on each side, the surfaces of
this Choice AU example retain considerable luster with natural
light gray patina and hints of gold toning. Population: 46 in 55 (1
