Description

Desirable Key-Date 1893-S Dollar, Good 6

1893-S $1 Good 6 NGC. Very Fine seems to be about the "norm" grade for a circulated 1893-S dollar. Indeed, in a September 5, 2005 Coin World article, Paul Gilkes writes that "... very few are known in lower grades such as Fair, Good and Very Good." The appearance of a Good 6 example at auction thus provides an excellent opportunity for the collector who desires to acquire a relatively inexpensive specimen of this key date in a collectible grade. This piece displays light to medium gray color on surfaces that are, for the most part, remarkably clean despite extensive circulation. We also note relatively good design definition for the grade.(Registry values: P10, N1)
