Description

1893-S Silver Dollar, VG8
Accessible Grade

1893-S $1 VG8 PCGS. VAM-2. There were 100,000 Morgan dollars minted by the San Francisco Mint in 1893 despite the preparation of 10 obverse and five reverse dies, though just a lone obverse and two reverse dies would be used. The present example displays a largely worn portrait of Liberty and the eagle, with soft frosted tones. There are some minor abrasions, though none prove overly detracting. This example will be a more accessible coin for this key date. Among the 100 Greatest U.S. Coins (#41 in 6th edition).
