1894 $1 AU58 Prooflike NGC. VAM-3....
Description
1894 Morgan Dollar, AU58 Prooflike
Rarely Seen With Reflective Surfaces
1894 $1 AU58 Prooflike NGC. VAM-3. Doubling is seen on some
wreath leaves, on the reverse legend lettering and on the tops of
the motto. Although this scarce P-mint issue's mintage of 110,000
pieces is among the lowest in the series (theoretically resulting
in less overworked dies), it is quite unusual to find an example
with prooflike qualities. NGC reports only five numerically finer
pieces in Prooflike (8/25). This untoned near-Mint Morgan appears
to have entered circulation for a brief period of time, but the
surviving luster in the protected fields exhibits unmistakable
glassy reflectivity. A shallow facial mark is more ill-placed than
individually offensive.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 11687; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2016), lot 5085.(Registry values: P8, N991)
