    Description

    1894 Dollar, Softly Frosted MS64
    In-Demand Morgan Issue

1894 $1 MS64 PCGS. CAC. The low-mintage 1894 Philadelphia Morgan dollar was struck in an amount of 110,000 pieces, only 10,000 more coins than the number reported for the fabled 1893-S. The small production makes the 1894 by far the lowest-mintage issue among the Philadelphia series. Nice Mint State examples are strongly contested at auction and eagerly pursued on the bourse floor at coin shows. This near-Gem displays softly frosted luster over silvery surfaces bounded with a thin ring of russet-gold and sky-blue around the periphery of each side. A few light marks on Liberty's cheek account for the grade, but this is a well-struck and extremely attractive example. PCGS has seen only 24 numerically finer (2/13).(Registry values: P8, N2998) (NGC ID# 255V, PCGS# 7228)
