Description

Sharply Defined MS64 1894 Dollar

1894 $1 MS64 PCGS. 1894 $1 MS64 PCGS. Although popular among today's collectors, the Morgan dollar was a seemingly unnecessary coin that cluttered Treasury Department vaults through the early 1970s. The 1894 was produced to the extent of only 110,000 business strikes, few of which were released into circulation at the time of issue. Although the Treasury Department released several bags of Mint State examples in the 1950s and 1960s, this issue is still a significant rarity above the BU level. Lightly toned in a somewhat mottled fashion on the obverse in golden-tan hues, both sides are dripping with mint frost. The strike is above average for the series and the surfaces are free of unduly bothersome abrasions.(Registry values: P8, N2998)
