Description

Scarce Select 1894-O Dollar

1894-O $1 MS63 PCGS. The 1894-O differs from most New Orleans issues in that the mintage is much lower than usual, and few bags went into collector hands. Some may have been melted to satisfy the Pittman Act. While not as rare as the '95-O or '93-O, the '94-O is genuinely scarce in Mint State, particularly when found as nice as the present example. The pearl-gray fields and devices are framed by golden-brown, and the gently shimmering surfaces lack detrimental abrasions. The minor bluntness of strike at the centers is usual for O-mint issues of the era.(Registry values: P7, N2998)
