Description

1895-O Morgan Dollar, AU58
Attractive, Low Mintage Date

1895-O $1 AU58 NGC. Only 450,000 Morgan silver dollars were coined at the New Orleans Mint in 1895. While production values were generally low for this issue, the present coin is an attractive specimen, with only the slightest traces of wear on the high points of the design. The devices are well detailed for an 1895-O, as the date is noted for its poor strikes. The surfaces are lustrous, and free of distractions. Wayne Miller has noted that high-grade AU specimens of this date are often more attractive than Mint State examples.
