Description

1895-O $1 MS60 Prooflike NGC. This is a remarkable coin in an unusual grade. Series aficionados realize how elusive this issue is; Bowers notes that it alone appears to have been unrepresented in any of the great Treasury releases. The strike is only of middling quality on this example, but it is fully Mint State, with a quicksilver, low-contrast quality to the surfaces like many true proof Morgans. There are many small and scattered abrasions that constitute the grade, but they fail to dampen the high eye appeal. Census: 3 in 60 Prooflike, 1 finer (2/10).
