Description

Near-Mint 1895-S Morgan Dollar
Reflective Surfaces, Modest Mintage

1895-S $1 AU58 NGC. CAC. A tiny mintage of 400,000 Morgan dollars was accomplished at the San Francisco Mint in 1895. Mint State examples are elusive, and Q. David Bowers considers attractive circulated specimens "a reasonable financial as well as aesthetic alternative." The present coin displays reflective, prooflike fields and sharply detailed devices, with only the slightest traces of wear. The surfaces are completely brilliant, and minimally abraded for the grade.(Registry values: P8, N991)
