Description
1895-S Morgan Dollar, MS64
Colorful Field Mirroring
VAM-4, A Top 100 Variety
1895-S $1 S Over Horizontal S, VAM-4, MS64 PCGS. CAC. A Top
100 Variety. The 9 is doubled inside the upper loop and at the
lower outside of the loop closure, and the S mintmark repunched
over a horizontal S. While the 1895-S is much more available at the
MS64 grade level compared to full Gem Uncirculated examples, there
is a wide variance in quality among the near-Gems. This Choice Mint
State coin offers richly frosted central motifs surrounded by
semireflective fields that display colorful iridescent hues when
rotated in light. Powder-blue and amber-gold toning provide natural
eye appeal while the is needle-sharp throughout the raised
elements. A few light luster grazes on Liberty's frosted portrait
may be the only impediment to an even finer grade since the fields
are essentially mark-free. CAC endorsement confirms the high
quality of this low-mintage Morgan date. The 1895-S is always
preferred by those assembling a high-quality silver dollar date
set, and the VAM-4 variety adds an extra layer of desirability. From The Zeus Collection.
