Description

1896-O $1 MS63 PCGS. New Orleans rebounded in 1896 with a mintage of 4.9 million Morgan dollars following three reduced issues in the wake of the Panic of 1893. The 1896-O was quickly absorbed within Southern commerce, so much so that Choice examples are scarce and finer ones are almost unattainable. This Select piece displays softly frosted luster on fully brilliant surfaces. The strike is typically soft over the ear, and marks are grade-consistent with just a tiny grease mark seen on the left cotton boll.(Registry values: P9, N2998)
