Description
Choice 1896-S Morgan Dollar
Scarcer Date in High Grade
1896-S $1 MS64 PCGS. In spite of the large mintage of 5
million pieces, the 1896-S Morgan dollar has always been a scarcer
date in the series. The present coin is an attractive Choice Mint
State example with brilliant surfaces and vibrant mint luster. The
strike shows just a touch of softness on the eagle's breast and the
hair above the ear. Q. David Bowers considers MS64 the Optimal
Collecting Grade. Housed in a green label holder. From The Helen Gates Kirk Collection.(Registry values: P7, N1793)
