Description

Frosted MS64 1896-S Dollar

1896-S $1 MS64 PCGS. Much scarcer than its mintage of 5 million pieces indicates, at least half that number are believed to have been melted under the Pittman Act. This is a brilliant coin that has thick, frosted mint luster. A few minor abrasions and luster grazes account for the grade, as well as slight softness of strike in the centers.(Registry values: P7, N1793)
