1897-O Morgan Dollar, MS61 Prooflike
Rare Prooflike Example
1897-O $1 MS61 Prooflike NGC. The 1897-O Morgan dollar was
produced without high standards of quality control, and most
examples seen are softly struck, with lackluster surfaces. In the
words of Q. David Bowers, "Prooflike coins are rare." The present
example is sharply detailed and displays brightly mirrored fields.
A scattering of minor abrasions on both sides explains the grade.
