Description

1898-S $1 MS65 Prooflike NGC. The 1898-S dollar, with a mintage exceeding 4 million coins, is readily available through Gem grades. Prooflike specimens, however, are elusive, especially at the MS65 level. Wisps of russet and electric-blue toning concentrate at the margins of this Gem Prooflike coin, and an attentive strike leaves sharp definition on the design elements. A few light grade-consistent marks are not bothersome. Housed in a prior generation holder. Census: 6 in 65 Prooflike, 1 finer (7/09).
