VAM-11, Repunched Date

1900-S $1 MS67 NGC. VAM-11. Kenneth Bressett Signature. The 1 is lightly doubled below the upper serif. The 9 is doubled near the top of the inner loop. The 1900 and 1900-O are available at the MS67 level, but the 1900-S is very rare as a Superb Gem. In fact, this lot is tied with one other example for the honor of finest certified at NGC (4/26). The other MS67 NGC 1900-S dollar was auctioned by Heritage in June 2016 as part of the Rev. Dr. James G.K. McClure Collection. The present lot boasts a sharp strike and dynamic cartwheel luster across brilliant surfaces. The cheek and fields are smooth, and the sole reportable imperfection is a horizontal line on Liberty's chin.
