Description
1901 Morgan Dollar, MS63
Key Condition Rarity in the Series
1901 $1 MS63 NGC. Most 1901 Morgans grade in the About
Uncirculated range, despite a respectable mintage just topping 6.9
million coins. The issue is challenging in Mint State, scarce in
MS63 and rare any finer. This Select example is a collectible yet
attractive 1901, and NGC reports only 22 numerically finer pieces
(4/26). The fully brilliant surfaces are layered in luminous
luster, and light scattered marks define the grade. The strike is
slightly soft on the central eagle's breast, but elsewhere the
devices are well-defined.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 256J, PCGS# 7272, GSID# 7590)
