Description

Select 1901 Morgan Dollar
Important Condition Rarity

1901 $1 MS63 PCGS. In spite of its large mintage of nearly 7 million pieces, the 1901 Morgan dollar is a prime condition rarity in the series, second only to the 1896-O in absolute rarity in MS65 and above. The present coin is an attractive Select specimen, with sharp details on the obverse, and just a touch of softness on the eagle's feathers on the reverse. The partially brilliant surfaces are toned in shades of bluish-gray and gold, with vibrant mint luster shining through the toning. As expected from the grade, a few insignificant handling marks are evident on both sides, but none merit individual mention.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
