Description

Scarce 1901-S Gem Dollar

1901-S $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1901-S is fairly scarce within the context of Morgan dollars from this mint at the turn of the century. This MS65 example reveals a dusting of golden-gray patina resting on highly lustrous surfaces. The strike, while short of full, is clearly superior to the vast majority of '01-S Dollars, and the few minute contact marks are consistent with the grade designation. We note a small spot between the P in PLURIBUS and Liberty's brow. Still, a solid Gem example of this desirable late date S-mint. Housed in a green-label holder.
