Description

1902-S $1 MS66 NGC. Blinding satiny luster bursts forth from the surfaces of this electric Morgan. Only a hint of weakness exists on the strands of hair above the ear. Both of these features buck the trend typically found on coins of this issue: weak strikes and lifeless surfaces. Many examples were paid out from the time of issue, and bags were distributed in the late 1920s and subsequently in the 1940s and 1950s. Few remain as choice as the present example, which is only bested by two examples grading a half point higher. Census: 12 in 66 (2 in 66+), 0 finer (12/25).(Registry values: P6, N2998)
