Gorgeous 1903-S Dollar, MS66

1903-S $1 MS66 PCGS. The 1903-S Morgan is a scarce issue, as few people collected silver dollars when it was released. In a recent Coins magazine article about the '03-S, Tom LaMarre writes:

"Back in the days of cheap prices and child labor, silver dollars circulated extensively in San Francisco. But the denomination would not catch on with collectors until decades later. What's more, there was little interest in mintmarks. The date on a coin was everything, and to most collectors it did not matter whether there was an "S" below the eagle ... or not."

This gorgeous Premium Gem is one of the few high grade survivors. Its smooth, impeccably silvery surfaces radiate intense luster, and exhibit sharply struck design elements, save for the most minor softness in the centers. A small milling mark beneath the E in STATES is only mentioned because it may help to identify the coin. Population: 38 in 66, 3 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P7, N4719)
