Gorgeous 1904 Dollar, MS65

1904 $1 MS65 PCGS. Estimates of 1904 dollars melted run over 2 million coins, out of a business strike mintage of 2,788,000 pieces. Moreover, surviving examples are apt to be less than desirable. David Bowers, in this regard, says: "Most coins seen today are poorly to indifferently struck and with poor luster--all in all, rather sorry looking." The specimen in this lot, a solid MS65, exhibits very pleasing luster, and a melange of beautiful sky-blue, gray, golden-tan, and soft violet patination. A well directed strike leaves sharp definition on the motifs, save for minor softness in the centers. Close examination reveals no marks worthy of individual mention. Overall, a simply gorgeous '04!
