Description

Scarce Gem 1904 Morgan Dollar

1904 $1 MS65 PCGS. VAM-3, R.3. The 1 in the date has a short vertical spike protruding up from the right side of the base. 4 is doubled at the bottom of both crossbars. Bowers (2005) decries the quality of this issue in his Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars, but this Gem example, if not overwhelmingly lustrous, shows better than average striking quality and clean, well preserved surfaces. PCGS has graded just 13 pieces finer (8/07). (Registry values: P5, N2998)
