Description

1904 Silver Dollar, MS66
Fully Toned, Well Preserved
VAM-4, Die Doubled Obverse

1904 $1 MS66 PCGS. CAC. VAM-4. Iridescent cobalt-blue toning consumes the reverse and occupies peripheral portions of the obverse. Ruby-red and autumn-brown adorn much of the portrait. Cartwheel luster illuminates sharply struck and minimally marked surfaces. The 1904 can be located with relative ease in MS63, but Premium Gems are surprisingly rare, and none have been certified finer by PCGS. VAM-4 is the "Doubled Profile and Ear" variety, first reported by Martin Field in 1982. The nose, chin, and lips are lightly die doubled, as is the base of the earlobe. Population: 20 in 66, 0 finer (7/15).(Registry values: P5, N2998)
