Description

1904-S Morgan Dollar, MS64
Key Date With Superlative Luster

1904-S $1 MS64 NGC. Blinding, satiny cartwheel luster dominates both sides, and is far above average for the issue. Striking weakness is present only over the ear and surrounding curls. This is one of the key issues in the Morgan Dollar series, and Mint State examples are relatively elusive. Most were gradually paid out into circulation, both at the Mint and at the Treasury in Washington D.C. A few bags were released, but there were none at the Mint, in the Treasury releases, or in subsequent hoards, making for an unusually scarce issue.(Registry values: P7, N2998)
