1904-S Morgan Dollar, MS64
Challenging S-Mint Issue
1904-S $1 MS64 NGC. VAM-5. The 1904-S mintage of 2.304
million Morgans was only slightly lower than its two counterparts,
but the scarcity of the issue is much higher. Heavy circulation and
melting have left the 1904-S challenging in Mint State and scarce
over Gem. This Choice example displays radiant mint luster on
brilliant central devices surrounded with subtle hues of
amber-gold, lavender and blue on the edges. The strike is soft over
the ears and on the talons, as usual, and light scattered grazes
