Brilliant Luster, Sharply Struck
1901-O $1 MS67 NGC. Prior to the 1950s and 1960s, the 1901-O
Morgan dollar was a scarce O-mint issue despite its 13.3
million-piece mintage. Large treasury releases in 1953 and 1962
make the 1901-O readily available today in all but the highest
grade levels. This Superb Gem is brilliant throughout, featuring
smooth fields and lightly frosted cartwheel luster. The central
motifs are sharper than usually seen -- even at the MS67 level.
Only a few tiny luster grazes exist, none of which detract from the
extravagant eye appeal. NGC Census: 58 in 67 (5 in 67+, 2 in 67★ ),
