1881-S Morgan, MS68 Prooflike
Spectacular Preservation
1881-S $1 MS68 Prooflike PCGS. 30th Anniversary Green Label
Holder. This MS68 Prooflike coin exceeds the quality of almost all
other 1881-S dollars. It is among the finest Prooflike pieces
certified and it is scarce as such. There are a few daubs of gold
toning around the borders but most of each side is brilliant. The
field reflectivity is captivating, but the true hallmark of this
coin is the preservation. Liberty's cheek is flawless. In the
fields, examination with a loupe reveals a few microscopic ticks
immediately below Liberty's chin, and on the reverse there are
similar insignificant signs of contact between UNITED and the
dentils. Without these pedigree identifiers, a Plus designation
would likely have been awarded. Nonetheless, this remains an
exemplary type coin. Population: 5 in 68 Prooflike, 0 finer
